Augusta State University Closing BSN Program! Request for help!

As an advisor to my chapter of the Student Nurses Association at Georgia Southern University, I received the message below from Diane Robillard.  As many of you may know, we are facing a crisis in this state due to the extreme budget cuts planned for the USG Education budget statewide.  As nurse educators, it is critical that we all work together to support the efforts of all nursing programs to survive and thrive during this challenging time.

Please contact Diane at the e-mail or phone number posted below if you can offer her any help or suggestions that may help them deal with this program closure.

Dear Friends and Members of GANS

The Augusta State University chapter of GANS is in need of your help!
URGENT!

AUGUSTA STATE UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION HAS SELECTED  TO ELIMINATE THE
NURSING PROGRAM, TO REDUCE SPENDING.

STUDENTS AND FACULTY WERE TOLD THIS TODAY.

If approved by the Board of Regents, and the State, the cut would take
place July 1, 2010.  The BSN program would end at that time.

As the Nursing Advisor to GANS, I am looking to all of you for support
and advice on what we can do for our program, and our students who will
be left with no where to finish their degree.  It is a HUGE blow that a
school would cut a Nursing program.

Please, send  any suggestions you may have.  I am not sure where to
begin, but I am asking for your support.
I will keep you posted,
Thank you,

Diane Robillard RN NP

Thanks for your support of Diane and the nursing program at Augusta State University.  I plan to start a blog in the next week where we can share ideas and our thoughts about the budget crisis and its impact on nursing programs statewide.
